Resolved Question: What are some issues with buying a car with a salvage title?
I'm not buying I'm selling but want to know what, besides the title, would keep someone from buying the car. It's a 96 Cavalier with 84k miles on a rebuilt motor. It looks really nice and runs great, but it was rear ended. The damage isn't so bad to the trunk, but the trunk rim was bent so the insurance company totaled the car. Part of the settlement was a salvage title but I can keep the car. I might drive it, I might sell it as a point A to point B car for $1,000 OBO. What does anybody think?

Resolved Question: what happens if you fail to get the car at the impound after the 15 days it gives you.....?
"it says that this inaction constitute a waiver of your rights therein, and this car and its contents will be disposed of according to the provisions of Illinois Motor Vehicle Code(625 ILCS 5/4-200..) and Chapter 9-92 of the Municipal Code of Chicago. Also unless one retrieve the license plates and city sticker before the vehicle is disposed of, the plates and sticker will be destroyed." 1) So what does that mean? are you now "free" of this car? what happens to the title/ownership/insurance(if any)/everything? 2) After the disposal of the car, does one get charge with additional fees such as having the impound dispose the car? 3) Also, does one have to pay the fee for towing and storing of the car for those 15 days? if so, how? Thank you so much. 1) How much would one be fined in Chicago? 2) Do they destroy the plates immediately? 3) Are they going to follow up with the person that the license plate belongs to? 4) Will that person have to go to jail? 5) Will this be on that person's record? 6) How would one know if the car is not theirs anymore and is the impound lot?

Resolved Question: Should bicycle riders have to license their bike and have liability insurance?
For the safety and financial security of all road users Cycle Riders (Bicycle, Tricycle and Recumbent) should be required to be licensed road users with liability insurance, vehicle registration, and a state issued license plate affixed to the cycle. Cyclists having no license, current plate, registration or not having insurance would incur the same penalty as a motor vehicle driver. The roads would be safer and road usage would be fair. Some tricycles are large and not childrens toys. Last century bicycles were licensed where I grew up. A woman here in this town was hit by a high speed cycle rider without insurance a year ago and she is still having surgeries and medical bills. Cyclists often ignore or just don't know the rules of the road. The State needs safe roads for all users. The fee revenue would be of use to the State as well. Riders under the age of 18 would be exempt.
